The Kingdom of God is like…

 

The Kingdom of God is here and now but not completely here yet.  So how do we explain the kingdom to people in this world which seems to be so without the Kingdom of God and a world so engrossed in values that are opposed to the Kingdom of God?

 

Nowhere in Scripture is the Kingdom of God as such, clearly defined for us.

Trying harder vs kingdom of God

Gospel of “try harder” vs the Gospel of the Kingdom

 

Last week we started looking at the Kingdom of God in the here and now, recognising of course that there is also a future component of the kingdom.

 

As we spoke, I asked why we do not see the behaviour changes in us as individuals and as a church that would show that we are citizens of the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom of God – introduction

The kingdom of heaven or kingdom of God is the central theme of Jesus’ preaching, according to the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke).

Kingdom of God and Kingdom of heaven are synonymous terms.

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
